Smiley, On my M-15, I use a measurement of 40 inches from the bottom of the "U" support of the mast crutch to the first pintal. Keep in mind, to clear the sliding hatch, you must slide the hatch closed, or you risk chipping the gelcoat when lowering the mast. (don't ask how I know this) This height keeps the mast at a nice angle to lift the mast from the bow using the fore stay and jib halyard. I hope this helps with your project.
