I use the same or a similar shackle on both my main and head sail halyards and have never had that problem (not the knock-down problem--THAT problem I've had...). Luck of the draw I'd say. Sh*t happens is the technical description. I'm sure there are beefier alternatives you can try. It's only money, right? t
