A Honda 2 would be my choice to use on the M17. It's probably true that the 2 isn't beefy enough for very rough conditions and strong tides, but where I sail, I believe it would be perfect for the reasons you mention. Now if I could just find a nice used one... tom On Feb 4, 2008 4:36 PM, Tom Jenkins <tjenk@gte.net> wrote:
Hello M-sters,
Has anyone out there with a fully-loaded (electrical system, etc.) late-model M17 tried to push it with a 2 hp outboard? I know a 5 or 6 is better for long trips with no wind, but a 2 is so much lighter and easier to store that I am hoping it might be enough for maneuvering around marinas, etc., or even making a few miles in a pinch. I would do a test myself, but snow is approaching the garage eaves, and my 17 wishes to remain safely inside until the snow stops falling.
Thanks,
