Tiller-Tamer, which is also available from WM, does the same thing. The advantages, to me, are: can run control lines forward and adjust rudder from foredeck, does not block cockpit, does not require 'lockbox'. cheers- Shawn Boles Grey Mist (M17 #276 1978) -----Original Message----- From: Conbert H Benneck [mailto:chbenneck@juno.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 7:01 AM To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: M_Boats: Forespar tiller extension Steve, The Forespar tiller extension, is a length adjustable aluminum tube with a round rubber ball (for your hand) on one end and a fitting that you insert in a socket on your tiller on the other end. Forespar also has a "Lock Box" which is installed in the backrest of the cockpit. This allows you to put the round ball into a holder, and capture it firmly. You now have a link between tiller and cockpit side that is adjustable in length: i.e., you can adjust it so that it holds your desired course while you do something else. Go to WEST MARINE catalog, - mine is the '99 edition - and on page 537 you will find a picture and detailed description of both items.
