John and Julie, Sad to hear about Sydney the Sailor dog. You never forget one of those little guys, but there will be another one out there dreaming of the sailing life. Our 1976 Ford 4x4 gets 14 mpg with no load, 6-8 with the Nor'Sea 27, and 10 with the M17. I know it is all physics, so I assume newer pickups are lighter with slightly more efficient engines. From John Muller To Jeff. The 6.0 L engine in my Chevy 2500 4x4 is gas. It is a pleasure to drive, almost like driving a nice SUV. I get around 16MPG but that drops to 12 when I am towing. I hate driving a big gas guzzler all the time to tow a few times a year but I think its better than having yet another vehicle for a daily driver. On another subject...I wanted to let all our friends from the San Juan trip know that Sydney the sailor dog went to doggy heaven a couple weeks ago, wont be the same without a full crew.
