The cabin top winch is for the main halyard, works good if you lead it to the cockpit. I prefer the roller furling led to the starbord (right hand side) of the boat because I am right handed and it is a natural position to pull , if you'r left handed you might prefer it on the port side. Don't know if it matters otherwise,... I think you can have your roller furler roll either way.
