Bert and Moti, I have a 2hp long shaft Honda, plus the fixed mount. With my old Johnson, a 1.5 inch rise gave enough clearance for it to lift clear of the water and not bang the cowling. With the Honda, I am going to build about a 4 inch riser. Just some good solid stock for the filler, sandwiched between two pieces of quality ply. A piece of filler at the top, then slide it down over the mount, then a filler at the bottom. Screws and epoxy should hold it together. I use a tether in the event of a failure in either workmanship or materials. If you need, I can send a photo offline of the original that came with Sojornen when I purchased her 16 years ago. Bert,
I'm looking to get the same outboard. I heard both long shaft and short shaft comments here. How is the short shaft working? I also have the original fixed mount. What is everyboady else using as a motor?
Thanks,

I just purchased and installed a 2007 2hp Honda short shaft on my M 15. I found that I can not kick it up out of the water because the housing hits the
stern. I have the original fixed mount. I know many of you have the same
motor. What have you figured out?
Thank you in advance, Bert Felton M 15 Bella
