Doug, It would be my pleasure to plan out a cruise for the North Channel. Might I suggest launching at Spider Bay Marina in Little Current, rather than the Spanish Municipal Marina? The only possible bad part of the change that I can think of is possibly a slight loss of continuity in the feel for the size and distances. We could sail west for a day to regain the sense. Poor Bones would have a slightly longer drive, coming from the west. The ramp at Spider Bay is a much more relaxing slope and the town is nearby (more of a town than Spanish). What say those who would come? (which I hope to include me but I can't guarantee it). I can start a list if everyone interested in this cruise would drop me a note with their preferences for the ramp. I do have a few pics of the Spider Bay area on my web page (http://www.htmills.com/NC04a-NorthChan2004.html) if you wish to check it out further, plus Google maps satellite view is supremely interesting.... Sea Frog asks "where/what is the North Channel 200??"
The left coaster have a large fleet for the San Juans.
I didn't get in a long cruise this year due to gas prices and other issues so.....
Based on the economy I may have a lot of time to go cruising as long as I don't stop at a marina or restaurant :-)
So lets get an east coast cruise on the books for next year.
Interested parties drop me a note to get in on the planning details.
The North Channel 200 as joke is a good choice. I like the smaller group cruises and are real North Channel 200 would be open to the public.
The East Coast cruises are by invitation only. Mlist members and my private list (any Montgomery, Potter, Compac or other small cruiser who asks) are all invited.
The prime candidate is two weeks in the North Channel, mid to late June again. This time I would like to hit the more eastern areas of the North Channel and Georgian Bay.
Tod - would you put this plan together? Those great lakes cruising club guides you have are fantastic!!
Other options are Flordia Keys in April
Or Maine in the last week of August first week of September.
Let's get one committed early so let me know.
Once I get the responses from the list I will send a similar message out on my private East Coast list.
Thanks
Doug Kelch
