I was in my M15 on that same sail with Larry. My GPS showed 6.5 knots at one point (the boat was surfing), and I was towing a water-logged dinghy that pulled very hard. What a sail that was! --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M15 #235 'Vanilla' On Jun 19, 2005, at 9:17 PM, Larry E Yake wrote:
Just got back from the San Juan / Gulf Islands trip. I see this question has been answered many times, but many of us hit new speed records one day on this trip. We had 25 knot winds gusting to maybe 40 knots with some seas hitting 6 feet and getting real steep as they were against the current. We were running downwind. My GPS showed a top speed of 7.8 knots. Factoring the current against us, we must have topped 9 knots, maybe pushing 10.

Yesterday our GPS showed Endelig traveling at 6.1 MPH( our best so far) on a broad reach in about 10-14 mph winds. I was looking for the water skis. How fast will these little boats go???
