Jon, Years ago I rebuilt the foredeck of my M17 to remove and replace the saturated balsa. I did it from the inside, and it was a nasty, nasty job. I mentioned the work I was doing to Jerry Pollas, former publisher of Good Old Boat magazine. He said to me.. "Can you turn the boat over?" That would have made the job far easier..... Good luck sir. Has anyone rolled over a Monty17? I have access to a big fork lift that would easily handle it. I have a job to do that would be easier if the boat was upside down on a set of stands or sawhorses. Jon Barber Monty17 Ol'44

Furl for Montgomery 17

Hi. I am thinking about installing a jib furl on my Montgomery 17. I had a local rigger look at the boat this morning and he says the boat is too heavy for the "Harken Small Boat" and he is unsure which furl is best suited for this boat. He is going to do some research but I thought I would put it out to you all as well. The head sail is a genoa 150% Also, is it reasonable to expect the furl to be able to reef?
