Has been a relatively quiet list lately. Hope everyone is getting lots of stick time out on the water. Can any list members comment on the "rowability" of the Montgomery 6-8? Asymmetrical spinnakers/gennakers

Hello All: Wondering if any of you use asymmetrical spinnakers/gennakers on your M15s or M17s? I am thinking of installing one on my M15 and wanted to get as much info as I can before I make a decision. My M15 is masthead rigged, which might make rigging a little different. Ladder for Montgomery 15

After using a removable ladder for a few years I think I'd like to install a permanent ladder on my boat. I know there have been discussions about good ones here before and thought I would bring the topic up again and ask the question: what is a good permanent ladder for a Montgomery 15? Thanks! Weight of boat and Pacific trailer

Montypals: I have posted to this forum before with regards to the tongue weight of my Pacific trailer with my M15 on it. It weighs in at 180 pounds at the ball. So, I figured I would move the chassis relative to the trailer. First I needed an accurate weight of the two for a good estimate. So, today I went to a local truck scale and weight the boat and trailer without the car. Hard to believe, but the M15 plus trailer came in at 1620 pounds! That means my trailer must weigh close to 800 pounds. I can't believe it. The boat does not particularly have any extra weight from stock. It has a bow and stern pulpit, and a few odd and ends in the cockpit and cabin. I have a small anchor, some rode, sails, boom, a few cushions, boat hook, etc. All incidentals. I'm shocked by this. I will not need to change the tongue weight obviously, but it calls into question my tow vehicles. I have been towing the boat quite successfully for 2 years with my Honda Accord. Hate to get off the interesting thread about teeny motors, but I have another question; what resists UV best on a boat in the sun: standard spar varnish, or urethane spar varnish? Additionallly, I now have numerous coats of regular varnish in good shape, and I wonder if the urethane would go over the regular without sanding to bare wood (which I ain't doing). Connie, As usual, great advise on the mighty Seagull and carb cleaning. I have never owner a Seagull, but, I do own old British Triumph motorbikes, which used all Whitworth fasteners. Please, if you need to replace a bolt or nut on an old Seagull, keep in mind they are NOT metric or SAE. You will need the real deal, a true Whitworth threaded fastener. They are available from your oldie British bike shop (Triumph, BSA, Norton etc....)
