question on cleating off M15 genoa

I have an M15 that came with a genoa and a T-track set atop the toe rail. The genoa sheets run aft through a block on the T rack but there isn’t a handy place to cleat it off. I was thinking about mounting a simple clam<http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productI…> cleat (maybe with a fairlead - if it would hold he strain when released) on a woodblocks and bolting it to the track about 2/3s aft to secure the sheet. I'd like something I can secure and release quickly (kind of tippy moving over to the lee side) , yet doesn’t cost a fortune. What seems to be ideal would be a cam cleat up on the combing, but I can't figure how to get in inside to back it. Any thoughts? John, Salem Oregon Slip Knot

Sage 17

Hi all, Stopped by the Annapolis sailboat show today to check out the new Sage 17, I think you all are really going to like her. The cabin is a bit different then the M17, no compression post and longer berths for sleeping and better sitting room as well. Spent some time with Sal and Gail and enjoyed speaking with them. First class folks who will put out a terrific sailboat. Congrats to them and Jerry as well, nice job guys Gary Valetti M17

Hey Gary, That would be fantastic! I don't have anyone else from the Washington DC area yet, but maybe you can get that trend started! We do have one fella towing a West Wight Potter from Pennsylvania though! Vegas is definitely the place to fly into. It is only a 2.5 hour drive from Vegas to Lake Havasu. I will already be making an airport run to Las Vegas to pick up my good buddy, Larry Yake, who will be flying in for the week. I will also be taking him back at the conclusion of the event. If you were to coordinate your arrival times pretty close I could certainly pick you up as well. If we get enough folks coming an I need to, I could rent a 15 passenger van from Hertz, Budget, whatever ...and grab the whole lot of ya. Let me know. We are going to have a fantastic time. I would love to have you and as many others out there that can make it attend. The more folks that attend the better the event gets. When we go sponsor shopping, numbers talk. I am trying to convince more sponsors to actually attend the event and to show and demo their products in person. Again, numbers talk. So not only will it be a fun deal for you and your buddies to come, but it makes it a better event for everyone! As any sailor knows, I can't guarantee the what the wind will be. But, I can guarantee this. You will meet one of the finest, friendliest, most diverse group of people you could ever imagine and will leave here having made sailing friends from literally across North America. The people I have met through this and other sailing events like this have truly changed my life for the better. We can stuff 15 passengers in a van. If I need to we'll get two...three, or however many we need to get. Of course we can get you guys the same great hotel rates, and in fact, the London Bridge Resort has some beautiful two bedroom suites with kitchenettes and Living rooms that if shared by two people splitting the cost, work out cheaper than the 1 bedroom suites. Anyone else interested? Let's get this thing going! C'mon and join us. If you can get yourselves to Vegas on the same day, I'll arrange getting you here and back to Vegas as a group at the beginning and end of the event. Heck, fly into Vegas a day or two early with your sweetheart and take in a show before coming to Havasu. Maybe while you are here if you want a break from the event you can rent a car, grab the wife, and take a side trip to the Grand Canyon, Oatman (living ghost town), take a Segway tour of the town, fly in an antique Stearman Biplane, take a jet boat tour of the Topock Gorge,Hike ,golf, or just relax in luxury resort style. There is a fireworks convention in town that week also with a spectacular display that will take place on Saturday night as well as a "Rockabilly Festival" if you are into old cars, slicked back hair and rock and roll. If you guys are interested in doing this I'll put the word out through Trailer Sailor.com and a couple of other channels and see if we can get a group together. I'm game if you are! The only issue is that we need folks to arrive the same day if we are going to organize rides from Vegas to Havasu. Otherwise, the other option would be to rent a car in Vegas and drive yourself in. Hey Guys, If you are serious about coming, let me know. We can get you the same group rates as everyone else. In fact, the rooms that are left at the London Bridge Resort are two bedroom suites complete with kitchenettes and living rooms. They'd be perfect to share and split expenses and end up cheaper per person than the 1 bedroom suites. Also, if you guys coordinated your arrival times flying into Vegas, we could probably work a deal on some kind of van rental to get everyone here. Now THAT would be a road trip. How many Monty guys can you stick in a 15 passenger van?!?!? We'd love to have you and I doubt seriously there would be any problems getting you onto boats. I can't promise that, but I know last year, no-one that wanted to get on the water was left at the docks. We've got a load of wonderful seminar presenters also this year! Come Join us!!! Mast gate for '80s models

There were a few posts a while ago about mast gates, so--while getting my '83 M-17 "Sapphire" ready for winter hibernation--I took a few photos of the mast gate I made a couple of years ago. It was easy to make and has worked great, eliminating the need for the screw-type sail stop and preventing sail slugs from jumping out of the sail track opening (made for a boltrope, I think) while reefing. Montgomery Boats Manufacturer's Cup Race!

We are very excited to announce that Montgomery Boats will be sponsoring the "Montgomery Manufacturer's Cup Race" at the Havasu Pocket Cruisers Convention in February. This race will be specifically for Montgomery 15's and 17's. There will be a first place trophy awarded to each class. We are thrilled to have Montgomery Boats step up and sponsor these two races. All racing will be "fun racing" style. Protests may be filed, if need be. Protest hearings for each days racing will take place promptly at 5:00 pm. Protesters are cautioned that they must be to be on time to the hearing. All protests will be heard at the bottom of Thompson Bay.....(if the race committee is not present when you arrive to file your protest, please hang out for about 5 minutes ...and by then, everything should be just fine!) We will also have a "Pocket Cruiser Cup" race which will be for all makes and models together, as well as a "Longer Distance" race. Hope to see you here! 88 boats now registered and 4 months to go. Rooms and slips still available. New seminars have been added including some specific for the "admirals" who may need a break from sailing! Preliminary Intinerary is now posted. The website has been re-worked, so if you haven't visited for a while, please stop by! Sean
