Andrei, just my 2 cents, but why not start in the center of a bunk with a counter sunk bolt(stainless)? Then slightly oblong the next holes, left and right. Bolt those holes. Then move on to the fourth (right end) and the fifth bolt (left end) again, making your drilled holes oblong. Bolting the holes one at a time, drilling and bolting, should allow the proper curve. At least that is the way I would start out. Remember to allow for a little bending in plan view also. I used composite "wood" on my little trailer. Two layers glued together then cut to fit with a little left over. No rot, no bugs but a little more flexible than real wood. I also used lots stainless screws and finish washers to hold down the carpeting, no glue. Another advantage with composite wood is that it can be gently bent with a little propane heat carefully applied. Use a piece to experiment, composite can be very unforgiving if bent too far. Do it right, Do it once. The complicating factor is that my current bunks are in such bad shape that once I take them out, with the boat in the water, there is no way I can put them back in, so I must have a well-thought- out plan since I can not leave the boat in the water at the dock. b) I read on the internet confusing opinions on whether I should attach the carpeting with only staples, or with glue and staples. Glue and staples is more work, and requires the whole thing to wait 48 hours. Would the carpeting start to bunch up if I didn't put in glue? Thanks for any help, Andrei. P.S. Thanx Dave. You just saved us a bunch of money. We have a fairly new 2 HP 4 stroke long shaft motor. We were thinking to purchase a larger motor. bent mast support

Hi all, We had a little snow storm last week (10") so I threw a tarp over our M15 to keep the snow off. Unfortunately the wind was stronger than expected. The wind grabbed the tarp and the mast and bent the support 90 degrees. I believe I can straighten it, but i don't think I can get the kink out. Is there a source or supplier to get a new one? Our boat is an '86, will a new one fit? Any help would be appreciated. We have an inboard electric motor on our boat, but it was suggested that we also carry an outboard for longer windless runs that sometimes occur in these "gatherings" like the Havasu event. So I'm going to mount a rack (folding) for a motor. Is there an optimum depth for the prop? How much power will I need to push the M15 "properly"? Mast Base

For those following the issue of raising / lowering the mast with the shrouds tensioned on late model M17s; I've discovered that there are bolt-heads that stand proud off the mast-step plate that keep the mast from being raised. Once the "cross-plate" in the mast section hits them everything comes to a screeching halt. My plan is to cut the cross-plate to clear the bolt heads, then round off the aft edge of the mast base a little. Gary H. and Joe M have also cut away a bit of their mast base with no ill effects so I shall forge ahead. Jim M17 "Spirit" (2008 model)
