OK, OK, I guess I'll have to be patient, put in a decade or so, then re-apply for membership. Damn! I was really looking forward to wearing the T-Shirt. Hi John, What's the problem using the stem fitting on the M15 as your winch hook attachment point? If your trailer winch is located too low, a quick trip to a local trailer shop will take care of that. They can add a foot or more to the winch post, and that will provide you with a horizontal pull. I had a Trailrite trailer for my M15 - LEPPO, and never had a problem using the stem head fitting for the winch hook. Connie

Hi Mark, At 49 years of age you are nothing but a senior teenager who has added a few more years of experience to his resume. To be a real geezer, you will need years of AARP membership, Senior Citizen discounts at super markets, and a Golden Age Pass to the National Parks. Then you start to get closer to the mark. A Handicapped Parking sign for your car would also begin to qualify you for geezer-dom and TEAM GEEZER RACING Connie (86 and still sailing)

Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate the info and advice and especially the warm welcome to the group. I'll be working on several things so I am sure I will follow up with more questions. First are the issues with the rigging -- I've never experienced it personally, but by observation it appears that losing a rig can ruin your whole day. I bought the boat after only one afternoon sail with the friend who owned it. After learning more about M-17s, when he called to offer it for sale I pretty much bought it over the phone based on the daysail and reputations (the boat, Lyle Hess, and Jerry Montgomery). Rigging the M15

Hi, all. I'm new to sailing and likewise new to the M15. I inherited mine from my grandfather who passed away a few years ago, who never had the chance to take her out. Her running rigging was in very poor shape, and I can't quite figure out how (and where) everything was intended to be connected. I got the mainsheet and halyards sort of figured out enough to take her out on the water last year once, but I's pretty sure it wasn't quite right. Does someone have good documentation on how the M15 is rigged? Also the lengths and sizes of line that I should buy to get it back to new? Thanks for you help, Alex Matthis Sail #281 Portland, OR

M-15 bow eye addition

I know I've seen it discussed before (years ago, though), but can't find it in the MSOG archives, so, anyone, ideas on adding a bow eye to an M-15? Which one? Located where? Problems experienced drilling and installing? Offers to do it for me at no cost to me, other than a six-pack, while at the same time doing all my trailer work? Winching up by the bowplate just doesn't seem right to me, so I'm looking for other options. ~ John Tyner M-15 #412 "Chimpanzee"

HERE! HERE! I second that unsolicited endorsement of the Dr's fine work. After AMY came into my care, replacing the standing rig was one of the first upgrades I made. AMY being a flushdeck I figured that the only place I could go would have to be the SOURCE. Fortunately for Both of us, AMY and I, Mr. M was still in the business. AMY is still sporting her original White Gelcoat but I have purchased some very bright Red LP paint, I thought I'd make her at least look like a "Fast Lady" just waiting for the spring and more suitable conditions to dress her up. Currently I launch her out of Marina Del Rey, but I have been giving serious consideration to relocating, Havasu is one of the places on my short list, Southern Ventura County is also in contention. Cost of living and the congestion here is getting to crazy. Seriously now, I just had the good fortune to have Dr. Wrinkleboat make all new shrouds and stays (too many of them probably!HaHA) for my M-17 tall rig poser. I added another set of lower shrouds that will probably be deleted in the future, but that is my burden, and I am okay with it. Unsolicited Testimonial The work was amazingly accurately measured considering what I sent him.
