Find the waterline? Why not just put boat in shallow water and mark it with indelible marker. That's the way I established water line for my M-17 for application of anti-foul paint.

Gordon, I can just imagine the looks people gave you when in the midst of snow, slush and cold, you say you're going sailing this weekend............. But for us, currently snow bound sailors, your description of San Diego sailing does increase the cabin fever! At the moment, sitting at the keyboard and looking out the window, the tarp covered M15 seems to be floating on her design water line - only it's floating in snow, not water. That will come soon enough. After all the work shoveling, the weather boffins are promising mid-40s F for today............... Is this some sort of make-work program, or some miscreant's idea of a physical fitness program? I can do without that! Connie

I tried ice boating once when I was 14 years old. Manhasset Bay (Long Island) froze over in 1962. Some friends let me take their "boat" out for a few minutes. I was going about 50 mph on a jittery ice surface. Is it different than water sailing? You bet it is. What a rush. Not much chance of doing that again as I live in Mesa, Az now. Sandy
