The truck carrying Dulcibella, my shiny new Montgomery 17, reached Gainesville (FL) late this afternoon. Boat and trailer are in excellent condition. We started getting compliments even as the unloading proceeded in a mall parking lot. At home, we found she is just a hair too large for the garage. On to Plan B for storage... Now for some boat rigging. The mast/boom package was nicely bubble wrapped, so tomorrow will be like an early Christmas, with presents to open. Thanks, Montgomery Boats! David Fann M17 Dulcibella

Jerry, did you get enough interest to justify the production of a new style CB for the M-17? I know a few people responded, but I am not sure if I did. I would like to be put on the list for a CB that will work when I want it to. On the question regarding the CB trunk swelling, what are your thoughts on this...If the new CB does not cure the problem, can we remove some of the inside of the trunk and not compromise the integrity of the boat? hello all, I am not a Montgomery boat owner yet, but I am working at it. I frist saw the boat just sitting a dock. Love at first site, I thought it was beautiful. I really, really new at this. I am trying to purchase a used boat now and I am looking for help. I sent out an earlier email, but it was being held until my subscriber request was okayed. I do a lot of people powered boating sports. Kayaking, canoeing and rafting. I own a shop dedicated to paddle sports. Looking forward to learning more about sailing. paddle...Guy

Is anyone on the list located in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. Or more specifically anywhere close to Peru, about 70 miles north of Indianapolis. I'm looking a purchasing a boat located there which is a very long way from my home and I would be happy to pay someone for their time and travel to get a good third party opinion of the boat. cockpit drains

I have read with interest the past bits about through hulls and how to maintain or repair. Does anyone have any specifics on how to retro fit an older m-17 to the new model that drains directly throught the transom? This seems like the best answer, and after all, I do need a winter project. I have lots of experience with both epoxy and poly resins. I think it will take more than a couple of through hulls, the wet locker has a floor that slopes down toward the forward end. I think I will have to locate a hole in the transom just above the water line and create a solid tube that leads from the forward edge of the wet locker to the new holes I will make in the transom. All the winches I've seen are designed to be mounted through their base plate. The winch in my M17 is attached by the side plate. I may be able to mount a standard winch but I'm hoping to find one designed to be attached this way. John

Jerry, I have the old model M17 with the heavy swing keel. The winch for that keel is rapidly deteriorating and I need to buy a new one, but I understand the company that manufactured it either doesn't make them anymore or is out of business. Do you know where I can get a replacement, or, if one isn't available, do you have any suggestions on what to do? Thanks for your help. John Edwards M17 #372 Miss T
