Thanks Werner, Sounds like a very interesting opportunity. Yet another reason for me to plan a future vacation to the Golden State. I love the Red Woods and the Monteray Bay Aquarium. I could spen hours watching the otters frolic. My last trip I some migrating Gray Whales . Steve R. I am writing my doctoral thesis for the University of Wazoo....okay I'm not. I am having some ceramic coating done to my old truck resto & will ask the folks at Jet-Hot if the marine applications would be suitable for the intended use also any ability to fair the cast iron (what will/will not work as fairing material if any) prior to coating. Stay Tuned- (great name for a boat BTW) don't hold yer breath. M-17 #316A 62% of topsides coated and slowly changing from yucllow to white. Looking Good!! Mighty Mouse

Looks like the time has come to pick up Mighty Mouse! My wife and I are going to Nor'sea on Monday the 4th. I'm looking forward to comparing the 15 with the performance of the 17 and 23. It will seem small after a 23, but the portability is more important to me these days. Chuck Mighty Mouse # ???

To all, many thanks for your enthusiastic welcome. Twelve years ago I joined the Windmill Class (15'6" racing sloop) largely on the strength of the friendly people in the class. Studying the class membership is a good way to choose a boat. I quickly discovered that hanging out with Windmill owners was as much fun as sailing the sporty Windmill; they are a good sort. Seems that way with the Montgomery folk, as well: I lurked on your site for some months before buying a boat. I'm also pleased to note that the Windmill and M-15 jibs are exactly the same dimensions, so I have a basement full of ex-racing jibs, dacron still crackly, from which to choose. new Montgomery owner

Good morning all, For the time being, I am probably the newest Montgomery 17 owner. I travelled up to Sister Bay, WI to pick up hull #66 on Wednesday. The trip back was quite an adventure, as we had heavy weather in northern IN & I made it all the way back ... until at 12:30 a.m. I sat, spinning my tires, in the snow and ice in the driveway. We hauled it out of the snow yesterday. I'm hoping she sails better in the water than she does in the snow! This is my first boat. I've sailed on small local lakes, Lake Michigan and the Gulf of Mexico, near St. Pete. There are a few repairs to be done on her. The gelcoat has a couple dings which should probably be fixed. The 2-cycle motor wouldn't start at the marina, but I'm going to clean it up and see if it can't be fixed. The trailer could be sanded/sandblasted and weather protected/galvanized. And the electrical system needs to be replaced. Looks like I'll be busy. I downloaded the entire email archives and will be searching them for helpful hints. I plan on heading for the FL Gulf Coast as soon as I can fix some of these things. As of March 1, I have 6 months off work, and this boat is my keep-busy project.
