Dulcibella arrived in good shape

The truck carrying Dulcibella, my shiny new Montgomery 17, reached Gainesville (FL) late this afternoon. Boat and trailer are in excellent condition. We started getting compliments even as the unloading proceeded in a mall parking lot. At home, we found she is just a hair too large for the garage. On to Plan B for storage... Now for some boat rigging. The mast/boom package was nicely bubble wrapped, so tomorrow will be like an early Christmas, with presents to open. Thanks, Montgomery Boats! David Fann M17 Dulcibella

Sandy, Gato Sereno belongs to a retired fellow from Tucson who I have known since the mid-70's. I have told him about the Montgomery net for a couple of years but he has shown no interest in joining the list. If you have interest in contacting him, forward your mailing address to me and I will give it to him when I see him the end of January. Tow vehicle

Really got a new '02 Ford Ranger Super Cab, 154 horse v6, Automatic, for Christmas. Ford Motor is offering some pretty attractive incentives. I think the used truck, suv, market is higher than the comparable new market, here in the SF Bay area. It's hard to believe. Our Taurus Wagon is now for sale. It's on its 3rd transmission and I'm sure it will be happy to find a new owner who doesn't tow at high altitudes. Rich Cottrell

Caught you note regarding tow vehicles. I just towed my M17 from Door County Wi. to Cape Coral Fl. behind my 1994 Chrysler Town and Country. Had a tranny cooler installed before I left. Ran great -- even over Mt. Monteagle in Tennessee. Gas mileage dropped about 50% but otherwise all is well. (vehicle had 135000 miles on it)! Atta Baby M17 253

Today I was sailing on Lake Pleasant near Phoenix. I saw a 23 in the strorage yard and wondered if any one knows who the owner is? It's name is Gato Serena and has a Tucson hailing port. The number code indicated it's a 1980. Sandy

The Marquesa's are halfway between Key West and the Tortugas. It has a shallow entrance that very few sailboats can manage. A friend in a Freedom 33 cat ketch spent 3 days anchored in the middle of them. All day long he'd get VHF calls as to how he got in there. With his board up, he drew 3.5 ft. Sandy
