Dulcibella arrived in good shape

The truck carrying Dulcibella, my shiny new Montgomery 17, reached Gainesville (FL) late this afternoon. Boat and trailer are in excellent condition. We started getting compliments even as the unloading proceeded in a mall parking lot. At home, we found she is just a hair too large for the garage. On to Plan B for storage... Now for some boat rigging. The mast/boom package was nicely bubble wrapped, so tomorrow will be like an early Christmas, with presents to open. Thanks, Montgomery Boats! David Fann M17 Dulcibella

Positive Floatation

I notice that the brochure for the M15 says the boat has "positive foam flotation" -- in my 1981 M-15 I can see no foam anywhere. Where is the floatation foam supposed to be? If mine has been removed, it seems like maybe it would be wise to replace it. Or is it hidden in some secret place I haven't yet found?

Hey folks, sorry about the picture size. When I sent it, it took a looong time to load, but being new to the computer game I didn't know how to stop it! I have also have located the switch on my new camera that decreases the resolution, so I guess it was a learning experience for me at your expense. Tom (It wasn't that great of a picture either.)

Stan, Thanks for the good pic, it shows a lot of the details on how the bimini was mounted. I've been thinking about putting a bimini on my M17 for a long time, but I just haven't worked out the details. I'm wondering if someone who has put one on an M17 has a similar pic showing how it was mounted. John Edwards Miss T M17 # 273

Bob, thanks for the information. I did notice the other cracks, but did not realize the gelcoat was even there, much less a thick gelcoat. I have inspected the exterior of the area and it seems sound, so I will pull the boat to Tucson from ABQ and reinforce the area with fiberglass before continuing to Lake Pleasant. Lenny has given me some pointers on FG work, and I think even I can do the work. Thanks for the offer of materials. I will go to West Marine and get some goodies from them. I think of the time I bought a rudder from you, and you had your guys in the shop do all of the retrofitting of guedgons, etc. You would probably do the same for this item.
