Hi, This is Kevin Lentz - I belonged to this list a couple years ago with a different email address. I cancelled that email account, went a few months without internet access, and then kept forgetting to sign back up. How's everything here? I bought the new CD, and was generally disappointed. I had liked both Ivan's solo album and the MP Gang from Stefan, so I was expecting good things from the new CD. I thought it was musically and lyrically bland. Oh well. Anyway, it's good to be back in the fold - I look forward to the discussion! _________________________________________________________________ Make your home warm and cozy this winter with tips from MSN House & Home. http://special.msn.com/home/warmhome.armx
That's at least the second "ho-hum" review of the new MWH CD. I have yet to purchase it. I have all their others (well, not the *original* ROY CD) and would like to complete the collection. My question: who out there owns the new CD and likes it? Would one of you give us a review? My apologies if this has been done already--I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be! i've played it once & it'll never get played again. the songs are weak & under developed with the sounds lacking any depth. as a professional electronic musician i know a lot about sounds, and absolutely nothing on the album inspired me in any way. }:-( email : moose@pigpendigital.com music sites : http://www.pigpendigital.com http://www.alaskahighway.com http://www.mishikawa.com

oh well, gees, since you know a lot about sounds and you did not like it, clearly we should give your feelings more weight. maybe i should hate it too (just kiddin moose) wow! once eh? i wonder if i started giving everything that small of a chance in my life what would happen..... gees moose how about throwing it on like 5 more times? i do not think you will be begging for those 200 minutes of your life back. as a professional electronic musician i find the album to be a supreme piece of work, it has many hidden subtleties that are best appreciated on a sweet surround system or headphones, and some super supreme technical masteries that are honesly really only heard when high. i said before, if you do not like the album, go smoke somethin and then listen. music made by people smokin it is best appreciated by people smokin it. if you doubt this, do smoke somethin and then listen. and as an amateur everyday cool guy, the feeling of music is far more important than its technicalities, just like life. thumbs up to mwh yet again for this latest marvel. and of course, the message it delivers is just the wildest yet. i like that comment from alec or kari about "music for evolved humanoids in the new milennium" perfectly appropriate. aside from some enya here and there, there are only 2 cds i have been listening to for the past however long it has been ( i do not listen to much music- i am too busy making the stuff )- these are nhbtp and reality by bowie. that's it. shite, i may take a break and go listen to it now, it is beginnin to call to me aaahhhhhhhhhhh yeah, it grows on you. throw it on again, moose, just put it on and let it repeat a few times, you got nothin to lose. other than your contempt for the album. rain

I can see where he's coming from. When I heard it the first time, I just didn't have the desire to listen to it again. but I forced myself to give it another chance and then another. Since then, I just don't feel like listening to it. It's the same thing with 21st Centrury and Sideways. RoY and PGTW on the other hand... I can listen to them all day and night.

that sounds like you need to be drugged to like it :)

nah. i just saying that if someone is infavourably disposed toward an album, or anything for that matter, entering an altered state of consciousness can free one from one's normal views/perceptions/opinions, and thus open one to experiences that would have otherwise not have happened due to a pre-existing attitude that would have prevented it. it can also make one aware of subleties that may have been missed, again because of the same sorta thing, but it is kept thereafter. moose seems to be attached to the sounds, and thus could be missing the FEEL of the album, the message conveyed, so i suggested smokin it! i really think if he gave it a coupla more spins, specially if stoned outta his gourd, he could develop a long-lasting appreciation for the album. i have never encountered anything that i need to be drugged to like. i have developed tastes for new things that i was closed to before, and the appreciation persists long long after the effects of whatever it is i ate wear off. and moose- i will try to catch your show if you get a date set up in l.a. if you could drop me a line (i might forget to check the site- terrible with time) and let me know when you have a date set up, i will totally go if i can. rain

my view is that if i have to be under the influence of drugs to appreciate *anything* then something is wrong. i originally played the album on my wife's sony system & the sounds were weak, the lyrics weren't inspirational & overall the quality of the songs was lacking. over the weekend i played it again, this time on the expensive linn hifi in the front room, and my initial remarks remain the same. in my view its a very poor album.
