[math-fun] Morpion Solitaire
An easy game: Only paper and pencil needed. A game for one player. And an open game: Who will improve the current world records??? Here is my new website dedicated to "Morpion Solitaire": www.morpionsolitaire.com Fully bilingual, English/French. Feel free to report any error, or any missing information. As you can read in the "Origin" page, any new information on the origin of this game will be welcomed. Some other questions. Is it possible to do best than the two grids given in "Other 5"? Or worst than my very bad grids at the end of the "Limits" page? Christian.
On the "Other 5" page, already a better grid received! Of 187 moves, better than 182 moves. First update of www.morpionsolitaire.com: thanks to Michael Quist, the 4T and 4D games are now solved! But 5T and 5D still open... Who will improve the current records? An easy game, only paper and pencil needed: 5T Morpion Solitaire (the original version of Morpion Solitaire) is one of the rare games still having its best scores produced by hand... and more than 30 years ago! Computers greatly helped on 4T/4D/5D, but seem fully unable on 5T. Christian.
