[math-fun] Looking for Feller Probability Theory" volume 2
Does anyone have a copy of *[volume 2]* of "Introduction to Probability Theory and Its Applications" — 2nd edition, by William Feller — *[copyright 1971]* in *very good condition* that they'd be willing to sell (or donate) to me? I recently bought a copy online that turned out to be in much worse physical condition than advertised plus strongly smelling of mildew, so I need another copy to replace it. If you do, please write me directly at <asimov@msri.org>. Many thanks, Dan
Be sure to avoid the Wiley international edition, published in India. Wiley international editions are horrible quality: missing pages, folded pages, pages not completely printed, and more than I can remember. -- Gene On Saturday, May 9, 2020, 09:32:58 AM PDT, Dan Asimov <dasimov@earthlink.net> wrote: Does anyone have a copy of *[volume 2]* of "Introduction to Probability Theory and Its Applications" — 2nd edition, by William Feller — *[copyright 1971]* in *very good condition* that they'd be willing to sell (or donate) to me? You (and others) should know about bookbinder.com, which lists used books from many sources, listing by price, including shipping. There are many copies of Feller v.2 in both hardcover and softcover. Some of the hardcover ones look to be in very good condition.

There is no bookbinder.com. I think you mean to say bookfinder.com. I use it all the time when buying books. -- Gene On Saturday, May 9, 2020, 04:56:16 PM PDT, Tom Knight <tk@csail.mit.edu> wrote: You (and others) should know about bookbinder.com, which lists used books from many sources, listing by price, including shipping. If a digital versions is OK, try http://libgen.is/search.php?req=Introduction+to+Probability+Theory+and+Its+A... About mildew/smell: if you want to get rid of it, bleach is you friend. Use an unperfumed one, and as strong as you can buy. No-name "hospital grade" was what I bought for this purpose back in Australia. The work and time involved is nontrivial, though. I also had to sacrifice the cover, but the initial condition of the book was significantly worse than what you describe. Best regards, jj * Dan Asimov <dasimov@earthlink.net> [May 10. 2020 08:08]:
