Ray Solomonoff passed away peacefully on Tuesday 12/8/08, at the age of 83.

He'll be missed at the G4s. That's where he told me the jingle-stuck-in-your-head phenomenon, which I jokingly called scherzophrenia, was more properly called perseveration. Young David Silver once recounted Solomonoff visiting their home and repeatedly deceiving David with which of three bowls concealed a lemon, until David was sure he'd figured it out, only to be shown that a different bowl was no longer even flat on the table, incompletely concealing a grapefruit. Does anyone know if Ray finished the paper he was preparing last August? --rwg
