Re: [math-fun] Gardner's 6th book of games

Quite likely, assuming it's still in print. (That's one of the two where my name appears.) Regards, Dan Asimov

It is out of print under that name. I thought I had all of them, but that one isn't on my shelf. So either I misplaced it, never had it, or have it under a different name. I can't tell which.
Is Martin Gardner's "Sixth book of mathematical games/diversions" also known by a different name?
According to the pretty comprehensive-looking list at http://www.muppetlabs.com/~breadbox/books/gardner.html the original 1971 edition (hardback, pub. W H Freeman, ISBN 0716709449) was called "Martin Gardner's Sixth Book of Mathematical Games from Scientific American", while the 1983 re-issue (paperback, U. of Chicago Press, ISBN 0226282503) was called "Martin Gardner's Sixth Book of Mathematical Diversions from Scientific American." ABEbooks.com and alibris.com between them seem to have six copies (all of the 1971 hardback), ranging in price from $37.95 to $71.50. --Michael Kleber kleber@brandeis.edu
