Sorry people. I can't tell you how many time computer job recruiters have contacted me, and the minute they hear I haven't worked since 2002 they disappear. I guess I'll just keep working my deli job till I get so fed up with it I shoot myself. Hurray for America, land of opportunity. God sucks. Now back to my regularly scheduled program. - Dave Wilson

David, You can position this very differently: for example say "I took some time to pursue some hot mathematical research [true--back it up with reference letters from folks here about your talent and contribution] filling in with odd jobs and consulting [true--eg surely you helped *some* friend with a computer problem--you don't have to disclose your hourly rate], but I've realized I want to do more, so NOW I'm looking for a role where I can make an even more substantial contribution." So, do THEY measure up? You ask "What opportunities for advancement does the position offer?" Warm regards, --Marc
