[math-fun] Mathematica Guidebooks ?
Springer publishes a 4-volume set of Mathematica reference books by Michael Trott, at $80 per volume. They are described at http://mathematicaguidebooks.org Has anyone seen hard-copies of these? What do you think? Are they useful? Are they a waste of money? Bob Baillie
Your best way of judging them would be to look at the samples and additions that are available on the website. http://mathematicaguidebooks.org/samples.shtml http://mathematicaguidebooks.org/additions.shtml I have all four, and consider them valuable references. I listed them in http://www.maa.org/editorial/mathgames/mathgames_01_02_06.html Ed Pegg Jr ----- Original Message ---- From: Robert Baillie <rjbaillie@frii.com> To: math-fun <math-fun@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, March 27, 2006 9:39:03 AM Subject: [math-fun] Mathematica Guidebooks ? I have the ones on Programming and on Graphics, and have examined but not referred to them yet. They're big as well as expensive. I think that if you are or plan to be an **intensive** user of Mma and can afford them, they're worth it. For casual users it could be hard to find what you want or even to determine whether your questions are answered there.
