This project to provide a free lightweight distribution of Mathematica had fallen by the wayside, but an effort is now being made to revive it. The official site at http://www.mathics.org/ does at least respond now, although the online server appears incapable of actually running a program. But the developer maintains an independent online server at http://mathics.angusgriffith.com/ which can cope with running a short program. It does at least handle binomial coefficients correctly, which is better than Wolfram Alpha can manage; it barfed over RWG's latest titbit, but then so does WolfA. WFL
