Actually, Lewis Carroll's determinant method has a "number brick" i.e. involves a 3D array of numbers, with nearby ones related by a simple formula, allowing the whole "brick" to be deduced from one "face." Similarly to the way certain 2D arrays of numbers can be deduced from those in just "one row" via "lozenge algorithms." -- Warren D.
