[math-fun] POSSIBLE SPOILER: A mathemusical sequence
Hint: Count to 32 at an even tempo, shouting the seven numbers that are on the list and whispering the other twenty-five. Jim Propp On Wednesday, January 27, 2016, James Propp <jamespropp@gmail.com> wrote:

If you count to 32 at an even tempo, shouting the six numbers that are on the list and whispering the other twenty-six (or better yet replacing the number-names by a nonsense syllable like "bom" to ease the strain of polysyllabicity), the right idea will spring to mind. if you take the first movement theme of K. 525, the first note of each measure starts off at ordinal note number 1, 10, 18, no? maybe it's 19? i'm in a noisy taxi On Wednesday, January 27, 2016, Dan Asimov <asimov@msri.org> wrote:

I hadn't noticed that! But Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is much calmer than the piece of music that I have in mind. For a more appropriately menacing vibe, replace the counting numbers by an ominous four-syllable phrase repeated eight times, such as "Boil that dust-speck! / Boil that dust-speck! / ..." (for fans of "Horton Hears a Who"). Jim On Wed, Jan 27, 2016 at 9:46 PM, Thane Plambeck <tplambeck@gmail.com> wrote:
