The CS department at Christopher Newport University is a great place to work, with a very congenial, supportive atmosphere and energetic faculty who are passionate about teaching. Also forgot that math-fun strips attachments, so here is the text version: The Department of Physics, Computer Science and Engineering at Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Computer Science, effective August 15, 2016. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment with a nominal teaching load of 4-4. Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching undergraduates. The successful candidate will teach and coordinate introductory programming courses with the opportunity to teach other courses in the department. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. The Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is required for appointment at the rank of Lecturer. Individuals who possess a master’s degree in a related field will be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Phi Beta Kappa membership is highly desirable. The Computer Science program has 10 faculty members with approximately 200 undergraduate and 25 graduate students. The department is located in a state-of-the-art building, which houses offices, classrooms, and student and faculty research labs, including Robotics, Software Engineering, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Science Education, Data Acquisition, and Multimedia labs. Christopher Newport University is located in close proximity to high tech companies and federal labs (the Department of Energy's Jefferson Accelerator Facility and NASA Langley Research Center). CNU is committed to outstanding teaching and learning, undergraduate education, and the liberal studies core; the University is seeking to shelter a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. The Fall 2015 freshman class of 1,225 students was selected from nearly 8,000 admission applications, and presented high school GPA and SAT score middle 50% ranges of 3.5-4.0 and 1080-1230, respectively.
