Those who favored knocking off Saddam Hussein and those who opposed it are lining up on the Chalabi matter exactly as they do on other issues. I don't hold it against Chalabi that during his many years opposition to Saddam he consorted with the Iranians who were also Saddam's enemies. After all the US was not anti-Saddam until he invaded Kuwait. I have no objection to his having maintained contact and not telling Bremer about it. He is not US property, and I don't suppose he ever pretended to be. I would only be angry at him if he did something that got Americans killed, and I don't think he is accused of that. The Wall Street Journal has a pro-Chalabi piece which praises his help in catching Saddam and which I refrain from posting, because of its lack of math-fun content.
