--the details in this proof seem to me to be a bit vague. But I think he is right. I think a simpler proof is the next n shots all use exactly the maximum allowed speed. This kills the previous n bullets assuming none used exactly max speed.
The bullet speeds are in the open interval (0,1), if I understood the problem correctly, so there is no maximum speed and we can fire bullets at 1-epsilon. Sincerely, Adam P. Goucher
