Vivian Poulin & Pasquale Dario Serpico: http://arxiv.org/abs/1502.01250 Loophole to the Universal Photon Spectrum in Electromagnetic Cascades and Application to the Cosmological Lithium Problem, Phys. Rev. Lett. 114,9 (March 2015) 091101. They claim to have found an overlooked "loophole" about "electromagnetic cascades" for photons of energies above and below the "pair production threshold," which, they point out, is near the binding energies of light nuclei. This might imply that the usual big bang nucleosynthesis calculation was actually done wrong. This, they hope, may allow painlessly resolving the "lithium problem" that big bang models had predicted hugely wrong lithium-7 and lithium-6 abundances, although they were good about deuterium, He-3 and He-4. They hope to produce future publications investigating this. -- Warren D. Smith http://RangeVoting.org <-- add your endorsement (by clicking "endorse" as 1st step)
