Last Spring we (I and my wife) were visiting the Old and New Cathedral in Salamanca. When entering the Old Cathedral from the new one, we had to pay 3 Euros per person. I gave the guy behind a window a 50 Euro banknote. He gave me back some coins (must have been 4 Euros) and a wad of banknotes. In the very moment I started to count the banknotes, he gave me another 10 Euro banknote. It must have been already in his hand. I instantly recalled Scarpia's words in Act I of the opera Tosca, scandalized by Tosca's swearing: In chiesa!
