Yes, the word "codomain" was invented to try to avoid the word "range", which had become hopelessly ambiguous. Clearly, standardized tests seem not to have noticed this. It's analogous to a standardized test not realizing that Prohibition is no longer in force, and a good deal more important than whether Pluto is a planet. At 12:54 PM 11/1/2011, Adam P. I thought that any superset of the image is called the codomain.
