I am also interested in the length of the minimal line segment not just the minimal square tile side. For example in http://www.squaring.net/sq/ss/spss/o22/spsso22.pdf there are two adjacent squares of sides 6 & 7 causing a line segment of length=1, and by that reckoning the ratio of max/min is 60/1.
