If someone comes up with a better suggestion for nomenclature, I am willing to make more edits; however, as long as we are only arguing about linguistics, we can not get along to other interesting questions--especially about geometry. What are the geometric features of Lanterns in either the Toro or Andon style, and is it possible to approximate these sort of forms using algebraic surfaces of low degree? And wouldn't it be cool if--instead of getting blown to smithereens by a positron riffle--the anime angel Ramiel could avoid the dangers of Tokyo-3, and succeed in the mission to re-populate native species, which were destroyed earlier by the invasive and abusive behaviors of irresponsible human beings? SCENE: Dark skies, somewhere over Ibara in Okayama prefecture. An octahedron floats across the landscape obstructing the view of the stars. A stream flows, but where are the insects? Translation motion ceases, the octahedron begins to rotate along a vertex axis, then complex transforms to have a gigantic square-symmetric cavity, in its midsection. It looks reminiscent of a Toro Lantern. Cut to the pilot, punching keys on the controls. Lots of multi-color heads up displays. Cut back to the landscape, a swarm of glowing green-yellow lights begin to fly out of the center of the science vessel, into the surrounding environs. A man is sitting alone in the woods, but a Genji firefly comes to visit him, lands on his shoulder (scene continues thereafter). . . -- Brad On Sat, Jul 6, 2019 at 10:45 AM Joerg Arndt <arndt@jjj.de> wrote:
Maybe someone from this list can help.
