RWG: "But can you find a disyllabic less QUESTIONABLE than HOUSEPAINT?" Already mentioned are the French liqueur, Cointreau, and author, Beauvoir. The French have of course the simpler "oiseau" which Dmitri Borgmann thought (Language on Vacation, 1965) elegant enough to entertain its redefinition to the so-called river/lake in southeastern Manitoba. Alas, Natural Resources Canada now has these as "historical" only, preferring Bird River/Lake.
