Addendum: I wrote: << Outside of this range ([-10, -2]), vol(d) moves quite fast; its average absolute derivative |vol'(d)| = d vol(d)/dd is pretty darn high (eyeballing). Um, I forgot to mention that for d >= 32 or so, vol(d) is almost indistinguishable from 0. —Dan
