And how cool you can keep something in space depends on its surface area.
The real reason the Death Stars kept blowing up had nothing to do with Luke Skywalker. Look up their size. Assume heat is generated inside them at about the same rate as an average office building. Use the Stefan-Boltzmann law to calculate their surface temperatures. Prepare to be surprised. :-)
