Re: "from noise to sound to music to ... eternity !!!" ;-)

I think, that as Kraftwerk get older, they become more and more obssessed with perfectionism. That is why they can no longer make an album, they are perhaps driving themselves crazy trying to achieve the impossible? I think that the Radio-Activity album marked the beginning of their intention to be perfect. The emphasis on production is greater with every album.
agreed ... & as i already wrote here some months ago : holger czukay of the german band can once said in an interview about kw : "they once were pioneers of electronic (dance)music , but by now they are only 'sound designers' !!!" :-/ jus' look @ their latest "werks" : "expo 2000" - a jingle that turned into a single ... mainly for financial reasons , rather than to leave another historic mark in electronic music & "zero landmine" - a jingle ( or intro ;-) that was only used in a song twice ... as the intro & outro !!! *sigh* :-o what's next ??? :-o maybe only another jingle ... like "kling klang ... ausgang" , to finally say goodbye to us all & close down their famous studio in d-dorf forever !? *sigh* :-o oh well ... :-/ From: Lord Ruthven <dasfestistzuendeaus@yahoo.de>
yeah, the meanwhile about 370 Joe Meek tracks I own.
[ ... ]
as Joe Meek, another heroe of mine, always used to say: If it *sounds* right, it *is* right!
well ... i like joe meek as well & as i know by now that u have about 370 songs or trax by him , jan , i suppose that we should come together & produce a 2 ( or even more !? ;-) hours "joe meek special" for one of my own radio shows !!! *G+* ;-) okay ... seriously , what do u think about it , jan ??? *pure_curiosity* changin' the topic to "stockhausen vs. sala" ...
Well, I'm not his spokesman, but first let me say: I'm sure, Stockhausen is neither senile nor has any sympathies for terrorists.
i haven't said that he's senile - jus' a tad bit insane ;-) - , but what he said @ that press conference about the terrorists' attack on the 11th of sept. 2001 was indeed ... erm ... mostly UTTER_RUBBISH & also VERY_DISAPPOINTIN' , because his music is mainly ( if not already completely !? ) "intellectual ( or mathematical ) music" or "music for the mind" & the total opposite to "pop music" or "music to dance to" !!! so what i wanted to say with it , is that if somebody like - only for instance !!! ;-) - britney spears would have uttered such a nonsense , i wouldn't be surprised @ all , but if such an intellectual person like mr. stockhausen simply WASN'T_ABLE to give a much more adequate statement to that happenings , then i'm indeed VERY_DISAPPOINTED , sorry !!! *sigh* :-o
He said: "Wasn't it a terrible crap what occurred to me here?"
yes INDEED ... it was !!! :-/ sad , but true !!! *sigh* :-o
and finally he asked the journalists not to use the material.
*LOL* ;-))) as if ANY true journalist could have resisted that temptation & would refrain from doin' JUS'_THIS_!!! *still_LOL* ;-))) btw : i would have done the same , simply because who uttered such a nonsense in public also has to face the consequences of it , sorry !!! well ... i suppose that even "a musical genius" as mr. stockhausen could learn some things from time to time !? *slyest_grin* ;-))) p. s. : has stockhausen EVER used or tried to use subharmonic sounds in one of his "werks" , jan ??? *pure_curiosity* wouldn't that be interestin' for him to use those possibilities of the mixturetrautonium for one of his compositions ??? *jus'_curious* ;-) however ... many greetinx , oh jay ;-) ~*~ jvr network program - may 2002 : http://mitglied.lycos.de/cybernetx/program.html ( incl. live stream via internet !!! ;-) studio webcam - live : http://stream.ok-bremen.de/studio.html *G+* ;-) - brand new !!! - radio show archive : http://friends.schallreflektor.com/ohjay/alien_disco ;-) *~\^/~*

Did he not say that the terrorist attack was "the greatest art piece of the Devil" ? Not "greatest art piece" period. You can read his explanation at http://www.stockhausen.org/message_from_karlheinz.html (and not what the press misquoted). Glenn

By Lucifer, to be correct. You're probably right, the original sound circulating around seems to be edited for the radio broadcastings, and what the newspapers and magazines quoted was a transcription of this abridged original sound. jan _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Well, let's see ... In august 1962 Joe released his biggest hit single TELSTAR. The 40th anniverary seems to be a good occasion...

Maybe it's naive. But believe me: Stockhausen IS naive. He is VERY naive. Maybe he's too naive for today's media society. Maybe he's too naive to see through some poor journalists obsessed with an image neurosis. Or let me put it this way: Most of us are talking crap sometimes (as this mailing list shows from time to time). And IMHO everybody has the right not to be confronted over and over with the crap he talked in one weak moment - all the more, if he himself concedes it was crap.
well ... i suppose that even "a musical genius" as mr. stockhausen could learn some things from time to time !? *slyest_grin* ;-)))
I think he has...
p. s. : has stockhausen EVER used or tried to use subharmonic sounds in one of his "werks" , jan ??? *pure_curiosity*
The tone colours he used in his early compositions were not a result of his personal pleasure or displeasure. He expanded the twelve-tone techniques of composition into a system of composing tone colours, and he did this by using sine waves (following the Fourier theory, which would include the use of subharmonic sounds). So the tone colours in his compositions are not chosen, they are result of a compositional process. Because this has to be controlled very precisely, he decided to use tone generators and tape machines.
wouldn't that be interestin' for him to use those possibilities of the mixturetrautonium for one of his compositions ??? *jus'_curious* ;-)
Simply I don't know. The first four volumes of Stockhausen's "Texte zur Musik" mentions neither Sala nor the Trautonium. What I know is that the Electronic Studio of WDR was equipped with a monochord constructed in 1953 by Trautwein and Meyer-Eppler, but no one there was interested in playing it, so it went onto the attic. jan -- feel free to visit http://reetze.bei.t-online.de email: dasfestistzuendeaus@yahoo.de _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
