Hardly. That is just a matter of opinion, but hearing two versions of the same song is a rather pointless exercise in my view when the only difference is the language that they are sung in. If you have heard them... surely you must admit that they 'feel'
different? If you can't then..... oh well..... never mind.
I will not admit that they feel different because I do not think that they do! Rob. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

They are very different indeed. When Ralf is singing in German, he gets it "right" so to speak. It's quite obvious since he's a German. When he's singing in English, it gets kind of corny I think. Pronunciation isn't the best, and the melody of his voice is all different, and not as polished as his German lyrics. For some reason, whenever Ralf is singing in English, he sounds more "upbeat" and a bit like a parody of himself, which to me makes the music sillier than it is. Only when he sings in his native language you get the real Kraftwerk-sound; the colder and more monotonous feel that works so well. I think the best example is the TEE album, which in my opinion is a LOT better in German. Just by having the German lyrics, the album changes "tone" from a disco platter to something quite serious - at least in my ears. The monotonous beats in TEE works so much better with the colder and more industrial feel you get with Trans...Europa...Express... :) "Trans Europe Express" just doesn't work for me, even though the difference should be very slight, but it isn't. Call me crazy, but if you haven't heard KW in German, you're not listening!!

well ... if that's indeed the case , you surely also wouldn't mind it , if kw "sung" their songs without the use of vocoders or similar voice alterin' machines , eh ??? in fact i suppose that u've NEVER really listened to more than jus' a few songs of kw in german language ( like u've also NEVER listened to more than one or two joe meek productions as well !!! ) & so u simply CANNOT say that it's "a rather pointless exercise" , because u should better stop talkin' about the things that u obviously don't have a clue about , mate !!! that makes u sound silly & completely ignorant !!! :-/

oh well ... only ignorant people like mr. evans can make such stupid remarks !!! *sigh* :-o however ... many greetinx to y' all !!! :-) oh jay ;-) *~\^/~*

Errrrr... ones in English the other is in German... therefore it is a matter of FACT that they are different. "Completely" may not be acurate though. ;o) The rest of what Rob says is his own opinion... which he is entitled to have *he he* "Rob Evans" <robert_evans1@hotmail.com> went on to write > I will not admit that they feel different because I do not think that they do! Ok.... no probs from me... *sighs*. But..... Have you actually heard other versions Rob?... or is the opinion based on what you THINK they would be like? *just curious you see* Keep Werking John www.keepwerking.co.uk
I wish I could download more than just the Computerwelt album from Dante's FTP. I want more full-album quality German songs, so I can burn them for time-being. Signed, omegaChance __________________________________ MAIL: omegachance@operamail.com AIM: omegaChance ICQ: 96951338
