Greetings Werkers, My name is Tom from NJ USA. I'm new to submitting to the list but used to get the digests from time to time. I just want to introduce myself and tell some of my KW stories. The first time I ever heard Kraftwerk was just when Man Machine came out. I was a freshman in high school. Scott Muni from WNEW in NYC (is he still alive?) played a track or two everyday when it was released. I was immediately blown away. I just thought it was the greatest thing in the world. From there I collected what was available and never got tired of it. Then came Computer World in all its prophetic power. I was really wishing there would have been and album attached to Tour deFrance. People down play Electric Cafe, but I really dig it as much as computer world. Then the long lull. I just thought the Mix was just a greatest hits album so I didn't buy it right away. When I finally did, Iwas sorry I didn't have it from day one. One day on my day off I go to get a haircut. Both barbers are busy, so I sit down and pick up the NY Post. In the center fold are the Robots and they're playing TOMORROW! I had no clue! If I sat inthe barber chair right away I would have been screwed! I go. I scalp. I'm in and I'm loosing my mind. Stupid me, I bring a camera instead of a tape recorder. Unbelieveable show. The first web site I ever checked out was KW at my friends house. Amusing but sparse. When I finally got on line myself (not until late '99) I discovered some of the sites and BOOTLEGS. I was like a crack addict for a while with the bootlegs. I think EXPO 2000 is very organic. I don't surf much, but the other day I decided to do a google search to see if I could find anything new. The Brazilian site comes up and they're playing NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!!! How cool. MORE BOOTLEGS!!!!! Anyways, I can't wait until the new album comes out. Maybe we'll get lucky in NYC again. This time I'll have some advance notice via the web :) I'm still looking for a copy of a recording of the NYC 98 shows, any out there? Thanks, Tom
