As some of you will know, a v.limited box set of 4 12"s was released in 97 (I think) which included T.E.E, Numbers, Home Computer and another track (not sure, could be "It's more fun to compute" . This collection is currently sitting in a 2nd hand shop for the price of £200, or £50 for each twelve. As I'm a DJ, I am considering buying "Numbers" because I reckon it might be the updated version with the new intro. Only problem is that the shop steadfastly refuse to let me listen to it before shelling out £50... Does anyone have it? or am I deluding myself? :) Cheers Toby
I'm pretty certain this is the 81 version of Numbers. On Mon, 14 Oct 2002 09:53:07 +0100, Toby Frith wrote:

It's the same mix, just faded out. I think the only really notable track is the instrumental version of Trans Europe Express, which is just an edit of the LP mix with the vocal sections taken out. I used to have this box. But I needed £300 more. I later picked up the 12"s for £10 each. Can I just ask, is this collection of 12s only worth a lot of money if you have the actual box? Did they come in a box? I picked up the 4 individual 12s at a car boot sale for £5 each. Are they much more common than the boxed version? Worth a lot more with the set of all 4 12"s in the box, and even more than that with the Robots T-Shirt. The 12"s on their own are not comon, but they're not uncommon if you frequent rare record shops. mark ----- Original Message ----- From: "Erik Jälevik" <erik.jalevik@ntlworld.com> To: <kraftwerk@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, October 14, 2002 6:29 PM Subject: Re: [Kraftwerk] Question for the collectors Can I just ask, is this collection of 12s only worth a lot of money if you have the actual box? Toby, here are two "versions" of these vinyls.. One is real and the other (much more common) is a bootleg. You can spot the real one firstly by the fact that it comes in a white picture sleeve with some nice robots on it (wireframe) in black print. If you inspect it further you will also see that the vinyl have stamped matrix numbers on the inner groove, whereas the bootleg comes with more irregular, "scraped" matrix numbers. I've seen a few bootlegs with a picture sleeve, but nearly all of them come in a generic black or white sleeve with no print on the sleeve, and usually shrinkwrapped. You can easily pick these up for a tenner if you look around.. The real ones can cost as much as you suggest, while boxes go for anywhere between $100-$1000, although $150-200 seems to be a fair price today. Originally, 10 of the boxes (rumoured to be 200-250 in total) came with a T-shirt.. This shirt was pretty quickly reprinted by some smart guys and thus there are lots of boxes around with fake shirts, so don't pay a premium for a box with the shirt.. Most likely it's a fake one! All in all, there were 1,000 copies printed of each 12", including those that ended up in boxes (I think!) so they shouldn't be _that_ hard to find. I haven't seen a fake box, but perhaps there is one? I don't know... So my advice to you is: go pick up a cheapo boot :) Cheers, Peo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Toby Frith" <toby.frith@telegraph.co.uk> To: <kraftwerk@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, October 14, 2002 10:53 Subject: [Kraftwerk] Question for the collectors As some of you will know, a v.limited box set of 4 12"s was released in 97 (I think) which included T.E.E, Numbers, Home Computer and another track (not sure, could be "It's more fun to compute" .
