Uncle Oskar, we salute you ... but the REALREAL predecessor of "Metal on Metal" was Edmund Meisel's score for the silent movie "BERLIN - DIE SINFONIE DER GROSSSTADT", an experimental film made by Walther Ruttmann, premiered in 1927 with full orchestra added with chains, steel tubes and other assorted metal sheets, anvils, rattles, car horns, bicycle bells and many more noise instruments. Played LIVE!!, synchronized with the movie by a unit called "music chronometer"!!! (Ruttmann's BERLIN has been reconstructed some years ago, including the original Meisel score.
