Kurtis Blow was the first MC to be signed by a major label (Mercury/PolyGram in this case) in 1980. Jeckyll & Hyde were approximately 1983 and one of the early acts on Profile Records. Jeckyll, of course, is impresario and former Uptown Records CEO Andre Harell. Peace.
