Edgar Froese & son now sound like they are just going through the motions, producing supermarket/elevator music. Last album I bought was Canyon Dreams (yawn). TD in my opinion were as groundbreaking as were Kraftwerk in their day. The best stuff produced was with the old line up of Chris Franke, Peter Bauman etc, particularly the albums they produced when they were on the Virgin label. The music produced then was very inventive and atmospheric. As for being mates with KW, I couldn't say. Shaun

Tangerine Dream's reason why they didn't win a Grammy: #65. As fans from the USA, we've noticed that TD has been nominated for the Grammy Awards several times, yet it's bizarre that the band hasn't received this acknowledgement so far. Any particular reason which could explain this? The Grammy Awards is a procedure with three main steps: first of all, various artists have to be selected in a primary voting system which then allows them to be nominated for a Grammy itself. In this primary voting process, thousands of musical acts, bands and solo artists already 'fall through' the network of individual musical tastes and perspectives of success as viewed by the voting committee - a selected group of professionals worldwide. Anyone, who has by then received a nomination for a Grammy, is considered to belong to the cream of the worldwide music community in the year the voting takes place, in regards to their professionalism and position in the music business. When finally someone receives the little golden Grammophone, it might play a very important business role, but even to belong to the couple of hundred musicians who are nominated each year, is definitely a big honour for a musician.
