Not exactly true--other prominent mastering engineers at the time included Herb Powers Jr., who mastered many, many hip-hop and street-oriented records (especially kewl was his signature etched into the lead-out groove section of vinyl records) and Howie Weinberg. Ludwig was, and still is, one of the most prestigious, however. He moved to LA and founded his own mastering company. Peace.
