Yes, I seem to remember the quotation in Bussy's book - I don't have it right now - it was something about the durability of art and the immortality of KW sounds... BTW when I met Ralf during the "Mix" tour, he told me that they had spent a lot of time transferring all their sound to digital media. I don't think this is about remixing. It's about, like with the website, allowing the user to almost "make their own tracks". Bussy's book mentioned something about that near the end, in that in the future, people would be able to take the sounds that Kraftwerk had and use them themselves. The website seems to be an embryonic representation of that ideal.
