However, since the "Origin of Hip Hop" discussion has shown the impressive attention span of subscribers to this list, some of you may still be interested in the cover version of Tour De France by 10 Speed. Back in the day (1990?), an American Kraftwerk fan name of Joe Schepis made an attempt (pre internet, guys)
If I may be pedantic, that's "pre-Web", rather than "pre-Internet", but anyhow...
to make a complete Kraftwerk discography, including cover versions.
Many years ago the "Kraftwerk Infobahr" Web site (long since defunct, but I'm sure many of you will remember that pioneering Scandinavian site...) hosted a cover versions discography I was working on. I gave up maintaining it due to apparent lack of interest, yet for years after people (mostly nerds who ignored the "no longer maintained" notice) would send me unsolicited updates... so there is probably a "market" for a cover versions discography, should anyone wish to start a themed Web site? Of course, Lazlo's discography includes cover versions, but you can imagine how many updates to that have been made in recent years.
According to his list, 10 Speed's version of TDF was also issued as a single, with various versions of the track.
Yes, that's right.
It's a quite good cover IIRC
It's certainly very authentic to the Kraftwerk style. Kevin
